Ahhh . . . she sleeps

Do you know that every night
I tiptoe in your room
and give you a kiss while you’re asleep?

I listen to your breathing,
soft and sweet.

I gaze at your rose pink face
and remember the day when you were born.

I tuck the covers round your head
and straighten up your quilt—the one your Grammie made for you.

I find your favorite dolly on the floor
and nestle her in your arm.

Then I kneel beside your bed
and whisper a quiet prayer.

Your days are filled with wonder . . .
Planting flowers, chasing leaves
the seasons come and go . . .
making castles in the sand
and angels in the snow.

But nighttime is for rest and I want you to know
that every night I come to you
and hold you close
and give you a kiss while you’re asleep.

Hi Elisabeth! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I talked to your dad yesterday and he said you were heading to Alabama and that he hoped you would find enough to do there! We can't wait to see you at Christmas. I think we'll be singing together on Christmas Eve. And yes, the baby picture of Anna is sweet. These days are short, so I am holding them close to my heart while I have them!

What a beautiful poem!

And how I love going into my boys' rooms and kissing them after they're asleep.... holding their little hands and praying for them. What precious moments God gives us as mommies!
