Zoo de Granby
Have you ever been to one of those sales where you stuff everything you can into one bag and get 20% off? I am definitely in “stuffing” mode and here’s why . . . my baby is almost three! I guess I probably shouldn’t call Anna my "baby" anymore. She’s not even a toddler anymore. Her steps are long since strong and sure. Nope, she’s a regular person with a regular personality to match.
Then there’s the other side of the spectrum. High school had always seemed so far away, but now we are tracing its edges with curious clarity on the horizon of Michael’s timeline. And we know what can happen in high school! (smile)
So what does this have to do with going to the zoo? There are external realities to be sure. The Canadian border may be a little more difficult to cross in a few months. Passports times eight can be a bit expensive. The nice fall weather won’t last much longer. The zoo offers half price admission the first weekend of October. But the real reason to go to the zoo right now is because I’ll never have this day back again. I want to stuff my bag full of all the sweet memories I can.

Julie,
What a great way to describe it... "stuffing" all those moments with your children! I guess I've kind of been feeling that way a bit, too.
David will be 14 in a few weeks, and he is counting down the time until he is old enough to drive. It all seems so surreal, and to realize that the number of years before he's out on his own is very small indeed is a bit scary!
And, our "baby" is 3, too... I think it's okay to call Anna your "baby" even though she's not technically a baby anymore. I think Matt was always his mom's "baby" until she died, when he was 30 years old.
I was just talking with my cousin Heidi today and the topic of our kids as adults came up. It's so surreal. But it will be here before we know it!!
Thanks for the comment on my blog. I appreciate you thinking of us on the anniversary of Jessica's death. It means a lot to me. :)
Bye for now~
Amy :)
Hi Julie!
Love the pictures. Your crew is growing up. Mine too!! Hard to believe.
We sure miss seeing you all. Things have been so crazy. Thanks for the comment on my blog. I haven't had time to update it in a while (obviously). Should try to get a new picture of the house up. I love being able to "keep in touch" through your pictures and wonderful writings. I feel like we've been so "out of the loop" lately.
Things are going well but we miss you all at CMC. We had a good time in Norway, but it was a long 7 weeks. Glad to be back in the good ol' US of A! :-)
Would love to stay in touch better. Send me an e-mail if you get a chance. That seems to be the best way to reach me lately. (Use the e-mail address in the church directory...don't want to post it on here!) Don't know when we might be back up to CMC but hope its soon.
Miss you!
Laura
I love the last sentences of your last paragraph, Julie! I've been a little MIA but have enjoyed your last few posts. Hopefully we'll see you at the Sweetheart Banquet tomorrow night!
